Christopher M. Harvey

J.D., CPA, LL.M. (Taxation)

Christopher M. Harvey is the managing member in the law firm of Harvey Ballard & Bornstein, LLC where he heads up the estate planning and tax practice areas. He is also Of Counsel to the law firm of Harvey, Casterline & Vallini, L.L.P. located in Columbia, South Carolina. He practiced formerly as the managing partner of Harvey & Mortensen handling estate and tax planning for closely-held business owners and high net worth individuals. Prior to that he worked as a certified public accountant for Price Waterhouse, L.L.P. in New York City and Chase Manhattan Bank.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting (cum laude) from the University of Delaware and his Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) and Master of Laws in Taxation from the Villanova University School of Law where he was Associate Editor of the Law Review. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, he is admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars and the United States Tax Court. He has participated as an outside advisor and lecturer to the IRS with regard to 1041 Preparation and Offshore Asset Protection Trusts.

Mr. Harvey focuses in the legal transactions surrounding estate and tax planning. Currently, Mr. Harvey is an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law's Graduate Tax Program teaching Taxation of Property Dispositions, Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates, Post Mortem Estate Planning and Estate Planning for Small Business Owners. In addition, he is a frequent lecturer throughout the country on these topics for accountants and attorneys earning Continuing Professional and Legal Education credit. Mr. Harvey teaches numerous estate planning and tax courses including Mastering the Fundamentals of Estate Planning, Federal Estate and Gift Tax Returns Workshop, Fiduciary Income Tax Return Workshop, Post Mortem Estate Planning, Advanced Estate Planning for the Closely Held Business Owner, and Current Trends in Estate Planning.
