Robert
E. Ballard
J.D.
Robert Ballard joined the firm in 2005 where he heads its business and
commercial transaction practice. Originally a native of Georgia, Mr. Ballard
earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (magna cum laude) from the Mercer
University, Macon, Georgia. Following his attending Graduate School in
Psychology at Villanova University, Mr. Ballard joined a consulting firm
working with large pharmaceutical manufacturers to design and train their
clinical research teams on best practices within the pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Ballard received his Juris Doctor from the Villanova University School
of Law in 1994 where he was the Student Editor of the Environmental Law
Journal.
He began his legal practice at Powell, Trachtman, Logan, Carrle and Lombardo
focusing on business law and commercial litigation with a strong emphasis
on real estate and labor and employment litigation. Mr. Ballard represented
individuals in Federal and State court in Pennsylvania and New Jersey
which included experience in multi-district labor litigation. His current
practice provides support to the firm’s small- and medium-sized
business and not-for-profit clients assisting in business planning and
transactions, real estate and labor and employment issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ballard was Vice President of Associate
Relations and Employment Compliance with AmerisourceBergen, a Fortune
25 corporation. In this capacity, Mr. Ballard had oversight for the development
of AmerisourceBergen’s Human Resource departments following a formational
merger. In addition to the strategic development of the department’s
operations, Mr. Ballard headed the effort to design and adopt HR compliance
and liability avoidance practices. Mr. Ballard had ongoing responsibility
for monitoring compliance by the Company and all of its subsidiaries with
all employment laws and regulations. In addition, Mr. Ballard directed
the Company’s efforts regarding labor relations and represented
the Company throughout the United States in contract negotiations and
labor disputes.
